Mission Projects To Go

One of the best ways to bond with family or friends is over a service project.  Spread the joy of Christ by using one of the ideas below to help those in need in our Community!

Donate to the Food Pantry

Take the whole family to the grocery store with the focused goal of buying items needed in our food pantry.  When you are in the canned goods section, it really helps if you buy items with pop-tops!

Hold a Clothes Drive

Ask your neighbors, friends, book club or running group to clean their closet or pick up a few extra items at the store.  Clothes are particularly needed during the winter months when we need men’s pants, coats, sleeping bags, and blankets.

Host an International Student for a Meal

Whether it’s at Christmas or another time of the year, hosting an international student for dinner is a wonderful way to give back.  Whether they are coming from VCU, the University of Richmond or Union Theological Seminary, there are plenty of students who long for a home cooked meal and friendly conversation.

Send a Card to Someone Homebound

Brighten the day of someone who needs it!  Everyone in the family can get involved.  Write a thoughtful note or children can send coloring pages or crafts. Contact Becky Payne for a list of names.

Care Packs

Shop for supplies and make care packages.  Contact Steve Blanchard for details about the type of package that interests you.  He will give you instructions on how to create and send these packages.

  • Hygiene kits for refugees and disaster victims
  • Street Packs for the homeless
  • Care Packages for cancer patients
  • Gift packages for our military members serving away from their families
