At First Baptist we realize just how fortunate we are to be able to worship and thrive in a place with such wonderful opportunity.  We also know there are many who are not as fortunate.  As a result, we strive to identify people, places and efforts that have the similar goal of bringing the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth.  The Compassion Ministry board votes to approve allocation of financial assistance of funds based off received requests and current partnerships.  For more information reach out to Steve Blanchard.

FBC Slovakia mission

First Baptist has a year-round partnership with a church in Slovakia culminating in a summer mission trip to the country.  Church members stuff their suitcases full of supplies to run a week-long English Summer Camp.

This partnership supports Elvis Džafić and the Evangelical Relief Agency both of whom work in refugee camps in Bosnia, Croatia, and Greece.  We offer financial support and take mission trips to these areas.

We provide financial support for a local Baptist school run by Mount Galilee Baptist Church.

Swim camp in Helena

Together for Hope

For 15 years, FBC families have participated in a week-long summer camp event in Helena, Arkansas.  TFH is a collation of rural communities through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Throughout the year we foster relationships and offer ongoing support.

We provide financial support to Reverand Kom, a village pastor who rents space for his worship services.  We also provided financial relief when we decided to coordinate food distribution to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Disaster Relief

FBC responds to emergency requests for funds and personnel issued by the Virginia Baptist Disaster Response Team.

Brownsville, TX

We support Iglesia Bautista of West Brownsville and its ministries to the short and long term needs of those coming across the southern border of Texas.
