Giving Plan Breakdown

The Missions Giving Ad-Hoc team formed in response to the church’s decision to leave the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The goal of the team’s work was to update the church giving plan, which represents a tithe (10%) of the church’s annual budget. Prior to leaving SBC, our missions giving plans enabled members to direct their gifts to the SBC, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF), or both. The new giving plan replaces those giving plans with a single plan to which all members’ gifts will be directed.

Current Partners

New (or New Independently Funded) Partners

For more than thirty years First Baptist Church has had three different giving plans: An SBC plan, a CBF plan, and an FBC plan. The SBC plan was eliminated on June 1, 2024, after the church ended its historic relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention.  As a result of this action, the FBC plan has become our default missions giving plan. Selecting the FBC plan funds mission-aligned local, regional, national, and international missions. The CBF plan remains available for those who wish their missions gifts to be directed to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. If no designation is made, your mission offering will go to the FBC plan. And if you wish to continue supporting SBC missions, you’re invited to send your mission offering directly to the agency of your choice.”

For every $1,000 you give to Richmond’s First Baptist Church:

$900 (90%) goes to the church budget.
$100 (10%) goes to cooperative mission efforts:

    • $15 goes to the Richmond Baptist Association (River City Faith Network), which sponsors Camp Alkulana and three ministry centers in Richmond

    • $12 goes to FBC Partnership Missions, including adult and youth mission trips.

    • $73 goes to Denominational Partnerships
