Yoga with Marge | August 26 | 6 p.m.

Join Marge, a local movement artist and facilitator, for an evening of gentle stretching, restorative yoga, mindful breathing, and the calming sounds of crystal singing bowls. This all-levels session is designed to offer a peaceful pause—a chance to slow down, release tension, and leave feeling more grounded and refreshed. No prior yoga experience is necessary; everyone is welcome. Please come just as you are.

Serve Sunday | August 30

A Day of Service: Join us for early worship and a church-wide brunch, then roll up your sleeves and serve alongside other RFBC folks as we tackle projects in the church or throughout the community. Each team will have a different job, so you can choose which one appeals to you. Registration is open HERE!

Fall Art Show

Tell the Story. Share Your Faith. Inspire Others.

Artists are invited to create works that reflect stories from the Old Testament of the Bible or share their own personal journey of faith through art. Submissions may explore themes of God’s presence, guidance, redemption, and transformation, offering creative expressions that illustrate biblical narratives or the artist’s own relationship and walk with God. Contact Dee Dee Simmons for more info. The deadline to submit your work is September 1. The exhibit will begin on September 13. You may submit up to 3 pieces of art per artist. We will accept as many as we have space to display.

Candlelight Communion Service | September 9

Please join us on Wednesday, September 9, at 6:15 p.m. in the chapel for a service of Candlelight Communion. Formerly known as the Contemplative Service, this worship offering will include gentle piano and instrumental music, time for lighting candles as symbols of prayer, and the gift of communion. All are welcome without exception, and we hope you will invite others as well to share in this opportunity to center ourselves with God in the midst of this busy season through the beauty of stillness, prayer, and music.

Building your finances God’s way | Sept 9 – Oct 14

Rusty Lee will lead this new 6-week Stewardship Class in 280 D.  During this study, you’ll learn what the God of the universe has to say about money and possessions, how you can practically apply these words to your life, and how you can grow in leaps and bounds on your financial discipleship journey. Look for registration information coming soon!

Flying Squirrels Night | September 11

Join RFBC for a fun night of baseball to watch Flying Squirrels vs. Chesapeake Baysox at Carmax Park! On September 11 the Flying Squirrels recognize local first responders who make our community safe. First responders can present their badge or ID for a discounted ticket while supplies last. September 13 is ONE SUNDAY!

Join us for a combined worship service at 11 a.m. (no 8:45 service that day). We will all gather in the Sanctuary, along with the Deaf Mission and Aletheia Chinese Church, to worship together! Dinner on the grounds will follow after this special service. Don’t miss it! Pre-order meals HERE

Divorce Recovery Workshop | Sundays, starting September 20

Eight consecutive sessions, 5-7:30 p.m. in Flamming Hall. The cost with pre-registration is $75 (before 9/17); $85 after. LEARN MORE

Dementia Lunch and Learn | September 27 | 12:15-2 p.m.

Our goal is to spread awareness, answer questions, and provide potential next steps and community partners for caregivers and families dealing with dementia and memory care concerns. Robin Abbott with RFS and Ellen Thronhill from Circle Center Adult Day will be with us to talk about important questions like, “When is it time for additional in-home care?”, “What day options exist in this area?”, and “What do I look for in a living community for loved ones with memory care needs?” We are also thrilled to welcome Eris Bill, Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner who works at the VA in Geriatrics, who will share about Advanced Care and Veterans Benefits for those experiencing dementia and memory concerns. The cost for lunch is $10. Please register by Sept. 20. This is open to the community so please share widely!
