The Music Ministry is an integral part of Worship on Sunday mornings. Our choirs include singers and instrumentalists of all ages who are accompanied by the piano or organ–the largest in the Commonwealth. The children, youth, and adults are all regularly a part of Sunday morning worship and our seasonal concerts.
But the music doesn’t stop after Sunday morning. Our choral groups perform, regularly, in the community, regionally, and around the world. Some of our choirs have performed in Italy, Austria, The Czech Republic, Romania, the White House, and Carnegie Hall.
For more information on how to get involved contact Phil Mitchell, associate pastor.
Children’s Choir (Age 3 to Grade 5)
Your child can begin to join us at age three and continue through grade 5. Participation in the choirs affords the children a place to develop self-expression, leadership qualities, self-discipline, as well as exposure to musical and spiritual concepts. Choirs meet by age levels on Wednesday at 6 p.m. except during the summer months.
Youth Choir (Grades 6-12)
Dubbed “The Messengers,” this choir meets Sunday evenings at 4:45 p.m. except during the summer. New members are welcomed and encouraged in the choir.
Adult Choir and One Accord
Our Adult Choir and the auditioned adult ensemble One Accord provide inspirational and dynamic music for the worship services. During Advent and the spring, seasonal services are punctuated with inspiring music and concerts, frequently accompanied by an orchestra and instrumental ensembles.
Adult Choir practices on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m.
One Accord practices on Sundays at 6:30 p.m.
Part of the First Baptist Church Deaf Mission, the choir is a celebration of faith through music and songs in sign language. This choir is comprised of pre-lingual deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf/blind and hearing individuals. For more information on how to get involved, contact Dirk Hill.
FirstRingers, the adult handbell choir, meets on Tuesday evenings. The choir has been honored to perform at the White House and the Governor’s Mansion. It has also led workshops in Cloppenburg and Amberg, Germany.
