Richmond’s First Baptist Church is entering an exciting season of spiritual transition. As we celebrate our 246th anniversary, we are also beginning a time of prayerful discernment, seeking to be open to God’s guidance for our next senior pastor.

In keeping with the Baptist tradition, the Deacon Board took the initial steps to establish a strong foundation for the pastoral search process. On June 29th, the Deacon Board elected an Interim Planning Team to guide the first phase of this journey by identifying, coordinating, and planning transition process steps that will support the work ahead.

Throughout this time, deacon leadership will provide regular updates and opportunities for the congregation to participate. Together, we are called to pray, envision our future, and offer input. We believe that discerning God’s direction is a shared responsibility and one in which we hope our entire church family participates.

During this transition, we remain steadfast in our mission to bring the KOH2RVA. The ministries and daily work of First Baptist Church will continue without interruption through our five essential ministry areas.

We are grateful for our church’s long history of faithful and smooth pastoral transitions. Trusting in God’s guidance, we are confident that this season of change will strengthen the bonds of Christian love that unite us and prepare us for the opportunities ahead.
