Prayer Retreat Oct. 17 offers rest, renewal, reflection

What if prayer didn’t require us to have the right words—but instead gave us permission to bring our whole selves to God?

Praying the Psalms: Learning the Language of the Soul is a retreat inviting us to rediscover the Psalms as a deeply honest and accessible prayer book for every season of life. Come for a time or rest, renewal, honest reflection, and connection while discovering the connections of ancient prayers to our modern lives. The event is October 17, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. $25. Lacey Wondree is the speaker for this retreat.

Through reflection, conversation, silence, and guided prayer, we’ll explore how the Psalms give voice to our joy and gratitude, but also to our grief, anger, questions, doubts, and longing for justice. Whether you are new to prayer or have been praying for years, the Psalms offer a language for meeting God exactly where we are now.

Together, we’ll move from learning about the Psalms to learning how to pray them—allowing their words to become our own. Come for a time of rest, renewal, honest reflection, and connection as we discover how these ancient prayers can speak into our very modern lives. You don’t need to be “good at prayer.” You simply need to come as you are.
